Fee Negotiation, Cancelation, & Deposits
  • Rate and deposit amounts are figured by duration, type of venue, type of event, location/traffic, equipment and hauling needs, day(s) of the week, weather outlook, and more. If your circumstances are unique or you have suggestions to reduce expenses (e.g. on-site lodging or meals, ride-sharing, helpful staff) please mention this during our consultation.
  • Booking deposit or credit card on file is applied against balance due when the event completes, or is used to cover cancelation fees. In emergencies such as unsafe travel conditions or sudden illness, deposits will remain on account with an option to reschedule.
  • For participant-funded events (e.g. workshops and public concerts) – please disclose your normal venue cost for the requested duration of use, and I'll figure registration minimums.
    • Trade arrangements must be negotiated at booking, and any registration deposits are still due in advance.
    • Products are not usually eligible for trade, but discounts may apply on select sound products purchased during the event.
Arrangements for Participant-Funded Events
Promotion is recommended 8+ weeks (no later than 4 weeks) prior to advertised events.
Advertising arrangements we should discuss:
  • Who bears the burden of filling seats?
  • How much lead time do we want for advertising?
  • Is there a standard advertising format?
  • What is the registration deadline?
  • Is there more than one type of ticket?
  • What are the attendance minimums and maximums?
Payment arrangements we should discuss:
  • Who collects guest payments (how and by when)?
  • Who is paying whom? For what and by when?
  • Are there any hidden or if/then costs?
  • What forms of payment are acceptable?
  • What about assistants, venue owners, and staff members?
  • How will we handle late cancelations? No-shows?
Venue Requirements and Requests
  • General:
    • Access to room(s) for assessment, setup, and breakdown
    • Overnight storage of equipment during multi-day or early-start events
    • Space for everyone's "stuff" so it's not piled up in working and seating areas
    • Warning of known noise interruptions (e.g. that friendly neighbor with a habit of running the circular saw on Saturdays, or the lively evening Zumba class upstairs – you get the point)
    • Coordination of any assistants and helpers (yours and/or mine)
    • Written agreement to protect our good working relationship and smooth the ride
  • Concerts:  4' x 6' floor area is usually sufficient for my setup, but smaller can be arranged in advance.  Guests are most comfortable lying down with blankets and pillows (who is providing them> you/me/guests?). If chairs and/or back supports are offered, plan to place them on the outer edges.
  • Sound Massage for Self-Care Workshop:  Sitting area plus floor space for practice and a short concert.
  • Sound Massage Level 1 & 2:  Space for 1 massage table per pair of students (can walk around on all sides), plus seating area (circle). Ability to create floor space for evening concerts is appreciated but not required.
  • Sound Massage Level 3 & 4 or Intensive:  Space for 1 massage table per pair of students (can walk around on all sides), plus seating area (circle). Ability to create floor space for partner work in various portions of the seminar, plus one evening concert.
